Last Friday, I signed myself up to become a member of Front Row Enterprises Inc. It's some sort or a multi-level marketing or others would call it 'networking' but I'd rather label it as a commission-based reselling.

According to the testimonies, many people have already hit big with Front Row. A friend of a friend introduced me to it. We met up and she gave me a long seminar which I kind of almost appreciated if it hadn't took 3 hours to end. Seriously - it lasted 3 hours cause her presentation was very detailed and she gave me her background check before starting the presentation proper.

To be honest, networking businesses have earned such a bad reputation in the country. I was familiar with former MLMs which ended up bankrupt and closed after a while. I was never interested in joining such kind of side jobs before but with Front Row, I didn't even thought twice. The package was enough to convince me to join even if I needed to shed out Php 9,888 right away.

I'm such a wellness bum. I like going to spas and parlors to pamper myself either by massage, sauna, foot and hand spa, body scrub, and other services. I've also written before about the different kinds of supplements I take to keep me looking right at my age which included grape seed extracts and vitamin E. These are just some of the inclusive packages that Front Row offers. They have glutathione packages, L-Carnitine shots and packages, Diamond Peeling, Grape Seed Extract shots and packages, spa packages, acne treatment packages, and discounts and perks and etc. This was the reason why I immediately joined. It's not going to be a big deal if I don't hit it big - I just wish to try since I get something in return anyways. There is nothing to lose really but of course, I'd like to earn for myself and to help my team and my friend in my upline also.

I am yet to become an official member. I just need to get my ID and website log in then I can start selling and earning. Actually, as early as now, I've been kind of recruiting some of my friends for it though they don't seem interested in it. I wish to get them listed right below my name for them to earn bigger. Say like P9,888 is too expensive, or they do not have much time to sell and drop by the office, or whatever. I was thinking like there's no such thing as instant success just like what some envision. If one puts up a business, they must couple it with a hefty amount of sacrifice, whether be financial or intellectual, or time, or whatever and soon realize that money earned from hardwork is the sweetest thing on earth.

Whatever happens with my venture in Front Row, I am going to be fine. I'm just too excited to get my spa package :)

I've always expressed my love for online shopping. Sure, there are other surprises when I go to shop in the malls but because of my 'hectic' schedule, I'd rather shop online where I can have an overview of all the nice products in a snap and with a few clicks away, just wait for the products to be delivered right in front of my doorstep.

I've been good in encouraging my friends to go shop online. Aside from the boom of Korean music, Korean apparel are also so in right now, as well as Japanese goodies. I started shopping for Korean and Japan imported items since July and so far, I'm enjoying them. They're so cute, colorful, and really great to wear for a day out for drinks with my favorite people. I love the fabrics and the prices are affordable. The only downfall is that I'd have to wait since these items are available in pre-order status only. For Korean and Japanese apparel, I usually order from Sparkleshop - her prices are a little bit cheaper that the other sellers offering the same clothes.

I don't usually buy shoes because of the no return policy. I fear for wasted money if the shoe doesn't fit me or doesn't look nice on my feet. But I just couldn't get enough with this sweetheart of a shoe - a flat peep-toe mary janes which I love to pair with a dress or jeans:

I'd have to say though that amogst all these sellers, my favorites are CNJ Co. and The Posh Wardrobe. Why? Because they accept payments through PayPal. Yes. Online shopping is my comfort zone. Well every girl loves shopping and for busy ladies like myself who has no much time to come to the mall, e-shopping is like a reward for being a hardworking and patient girl. Hardworking in the sense that I go search for the best finds, best deals online, and patient in such a way that I go wait as long as a month for my orders to arrive :)

Year-end wishlist

Soon, I will be getting some bonuses, yearend bonuses from work. Last year, I invested on a DS Lite, a dog, a digital camera, lots of shopping, and recreation with my friends. I have to say that I got quite excited with all the money earned from hardwork throughout the entire year so I needed to reward myself.

This year is no different from last year - I still have to reward myself of course because I am feeling drained and sick of the day to day routine at the office. If I can't be able to enjoy some time off, then I would just spend some money on other things. Although I have contemplated on saving the entire amount for the rainy days, sadly, it wouldn't happen as I intended it to be.

My family is one of the hundreds of thousands of families affected by the typhoon Ondoy last September and because of Ondoy, my month-old car got submerged in flood. I couldn't exactly count the hours it was submerged but although it didn't reach more than 24 hours, a heavy amount of damage has been done. My father sent the car for repair after two days. We thought it would get repaired in a week but no - it's still on the process of being restored until now. Basically, the experts still could not point why there's still no electricity. Well, shit really happens but it was just recently when the tragic typhoon's wrath sank into my mind. And for this reason, I wouldn't be able to buy a new phone. I had to share some amount for the car repair which was waaaaay pricey.

Anyways, I am also getting quite fatter. So I've been thinking whether to buy a Nintendo Wii or enroll myself to a gym. I don't know which is the best gym here. I'm not really intending to attain a certain body shape and weight, I just wanted some sort of excercise so if couldn't select a gym, I would just buy a Wii and a Wii Fit set. With these, I'll enjoy and get healthier at the same time.

If there would be extra blessings, I might put that into my savings account.

openFT installation

I always encounter issues with openFT installation, CMX in particular.
I would oftentimes get failed dpendencies for CMX installation like:

All my glibc and gcc packages were installed anyway but after minutes of tedious workaround, I found out that this needs to be installed on the machine:
x86-compat-libs-7.1-4.i386.rpm

I didn't expect that it would be significant since the architecture is x86_64 but there's no harm in trying so I downloaded the package from rhn and installed and then tried cmx installtion for openFT:

[root@ATPREW01 openft_cd_minimal]# sh install.cmx
ldconfig: /usr/lib64/libftp.so.3 is not a symbolic link

#### Start the CMX daemons.

As you see, there's a little catch but this one is easy to resolve. Just look if file /usr/lib64/libftp.so.3 exists. If it does, rename it and then make a link for it Example:
mv /usr/lib64/libftp.so.3 /usr/lib64/libftp.so.3OLD
then
ln -s /usr/lib64/libftp.so.3OLD /usr/lib64/libftp.so.3
That's it. You're ready to install openFT and ftam.

Read-only file system

I stumbled upon a read-only file system and since I was too lazy to call up someone, I ended up fixing the problem alone. Good thing I wasn't overcame by fear since the server I was troubleshooting was one of our corporate Linux boxes based on DK headquarters.

All right, I was deploying some new modules when my scp was being refused a million times.

[root@remote]# scp Package.tar.gz root@remote:/home
root@remote's password:
scp: /home/Package.tar.gz: Read-only file system

It is clear that the receiving server is on a read-only file system. There are many references online but this one worked best:

[root@remote ]# mount -o remount,rw /
mount: block device /dev/sda3 is write-protected, mounting read-only
--> I remounted the read-only device

And then reboot the server...

It would take a while before the box comes back up but as soon as your SSH gets accepted, issue this command:

[root@remote log]# mount |grep $(df -k . |tail -1 |awk '{ print $NF }')
/dev/sda3 on / type ext3 (rw)
none on /proc type proc (rw)
none on /sys type sysfs (rw)
none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)

none on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
none on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type binfmt_misc (rw)

Basically it summarizes access grants given for each device. Given status 'rw' means file system is already on read-write mode and therefore, sending, copying, or writing files becomes possible again.

Let' try scp again...

Forced fsck

A couple of days ago, I encountered an issue in one of the Linux production servers. That was the usual issue where du reports a healthy disk space while mysql complains of not being able to do write due to a full disk space. I was not really familiar with doing an fsck until this situation and found out that it was quite a simple procedure.

To do it:
cd /
touch /forcefsck
reboot

For viewing remote servers, you can use IPMI console or whatever is available.
The tip is learn to do it for the right reasons only.

It's been a little of a 'resolution' for me to update this blog timely, regularly, weekly to be exact. There's a slight revision in the marketplaces' terms and conditions where the blogger must regularly update his blog prior to a sponsored post for it to be accepted. It's not really much of a problem for anyone but for me? I'm super busy nowadays. I have a full time job, I need to pet my dog, and other than these, there are extra activities that I needed to attend to so there. Tayong Dalawa

Hmmmn.. I used to scrutinize this series as it started airing because I thought it was corny and would make me fall asleep. One night, I was watching tv, I just switch channels during commercial breaks and little by little, I've started watching this series and I just realized that I was aleady watching it daily! The story got nicer because of the military angle and, it's got a great casting. Everyone seems tailor fit for their roles so maybe I'll continue watching this until the final episode.

I can't get over it. Sometimes I'm realizing that I'm not supposed to go beyond my daily allowance but I can't help missing out on my daily dose of Hazelnut Mocha Frap. Multiply

I've been very regular in logging in to multiply to check for updates from my colleagues. It's been a year since I started shopping with multiply and I never got disappointed with my purchases. The great thing about online shopping is I get to see all the items in one glance and from there, I can compare them one by one and conclude which I prefer. It makes shopping easier and though I cannot fit the items, at least I get to pick the prettiest in the pack. Right now I'm waiting for a couple of tops and two bags. They're pre-ordered and it's my first time to purchase on a pre-order basis. I'm still scared considering that I might have been scammed but hopefully not. The sellers I know have been there long enough to draw the shortest cuts in securing their pre-order items. I trust them. They're highly-recommended.

Movies

I remember back in college, there was a time when I didn't have classes during Wednesdays. Usually, Wednesdays would mark the release of new movies. So my boyfriend would pick me up and then we'd go see a movie, just whatever, regardless of the story or the cast. Lucky us if there is a good release but if not, we'd proceed to playing at Timezone. Until now, we still love going out for movies. The latest we saw was Public Enemies and it's really good. It's one of the best movies I've seen. The picture, editing, sound, direction, and cast is totally amazing. And we're also loving the cinemas at Promenade Greenhills compared to other theaters in the metro.

Skin Care

It wasn't really much of a priority until I caught mosquito marks which turned quite dark that seemed in need of some sort of treatment. Hmmn. I wouldn't like the idea of going to the derma often. Aside from the cost, time is also involved and my convenience would definitely suffer. So I did some research, interviews and got to a bottom line - Kojic soap and Grape Seed Extract and yeah, they're effective really. Kojic soap lightened the mosquito marks. Actually, they're no longer visible and I liked the fact that my skin asthma condition also improved. Just like the mosquito marks, they're no longer visible too :) Grape Seed Extract is some sort of an internal supplement- an anti-oxydant to be exact. I think I've written about it before.
Well I'm just glad. People say I've got a different glow now and I appreciate it. Looking better so why stop?

Food tripping

Any kind of it. I appreciate food a lot, especially Filipino dishes. I do diet of course, but I do not starve myself. It's like I would eat a huge lunch but never eat for the rest of the day and still feel okay. I find solitude in good food. At home, we'd usually order for pizza, cakes, chicken, pasta, and etc to make the day tastier. It's been also a regular routine for me and my PG boyfriend to scout for old and new delicacies from different restaus that we can afford. During our scout for the best steaks, we went as far as Tagaytay only to realize that the same restau's got a branch at the Mall of Asia but no regrets at all cause the weather at Tagaytay made dining more enjoyable. During our latest date last Friday, we went to Grilla for the first time (too late huh) and they've got one of the best sisigs in town. I like cakes, ice cream, burgers, lechon, sisig, bulalo, shrimps, crabs, and gulping up iced tea. Domino's make the best pizza, Brother's Burger grill the juiciest and tastiest burgers, Max's fry the best chicken, Arce Dairy chills the creamiest ice cream, Old Spaghetti House cater the best tasting pastas, and Dad's serve the best of everything but amongst my favorite restaurants are Outback, Congo Grille, and Guava. Dining made a big influence in his steer for culinary arts and one day, he will be the one serving me and he better be a good chef by then.

Also keeping me busy nowadays is playing, Mario Kart DS to be exact. I don't know. I just can't sleep without playing it hehe. Of all the games, I wonder how this one got me hooked on. Mario's really got a sparking charisma for people of all ages. Imagine, I'm already 21 and still find interest in Super Mario and his other brands. Oh well. It just makes me wanna get a Wii soon but no. I refuse to feed my materialism nowadays hehe. There are more important things to prioritize.

Once again, I'm into the mood of watching the live concert of my newest favorite artist, Lady GaGa. I just learned last night that she will be coming to Manila on August 11 for her first concert. Amazingly, it would be a nice gift for myself as my birthday is nearing. This would make a great gift for me. I've been so disappointed I was not able to catch the concert of Chris Brown last November due to issues with my work schedule but now my plan is fixed. Schedule looks good and only thing left is an accompaniment. I'm sure I'll find someone to accompany me since there are lots of Lady GaGa fans in here.

I'm very loyal to her, I order dog food every month and a few accessories once in a while since her residence is quite near. Vitamin-ized

Since I eat like a bird, I take in a reasonable quantity of vitamins in a day. Reasonable since I only take three, whereas some people who go on a crash diet take almost 10 tablets of different vitamins (this is no kidding) to supplement their nutrition.

Instead of taking multivitamins, I opt to take just those things that I need. Like for resistance (Vit C), for the skin (Vit E) and for the blood circulation (Vit B).

Vitamin C is very important to shield the body against sicknesses, as well as to aid in the metabolism and act as an antioxidant. For Vitamin C, I am not very particular. Whatever the available is at home, I take it. One brand that I prefer is Fern-C, an alkaline-based vitamin C brand which therefore would not contribute to my acidity issues. Prior to my current Vitamin E brand, I used to take Myra 400 E. I don't like it. I took it for like 2 months and there's just no effect whatsoever. If one is working on a shifting schedule like myself, the effect of Vitamin E must be noticeable especially in the glow of the face but Myra just didn't give me any. Last year, my father sent me Exact brand Vitamin E which I tried and liked.

I took it daily, before going to bed and noticed that I don't look as 'haggard' as I was before. My skin does not get dry anymore even without putting lotion or facial moisturizer. The only issue I have with this brand is its availability. It comes all the way from Canada and I cannot think of any way to get one without my dad having to go to Canada and by some bottles. Right now, I've consumed 2 bottles and there's none left so I'm into Kirkland for the mean time but I do hope to be with Exact anytime soon.

I also take in another Exact brand vitamin which is labeled 'stress.' Of course, it's not inducing in stress to my system rather, it's like an anti-stress vitamin which is rich in Vitamin B and Iron good for the blood and the metabolism. It is a great support for the muscles and the growing cells for daily repair.

I'm considering letting go of Vitamin E and Stress B anytime soon, probably when there's no more vitamin E left due to their availability issues. On the other hand, I don't want to turn to other brands which are not reliable and fit for me. I'm thinking of taking grape seed extract which they say has wonderful anti-oxidant features and is '20times more powerful than Vitamin C and 50 times more powerful than vitamin E.' I really think a daily vitamin supplement is important especially now, to shield our bodies against whatever virus floats in the atmosphere. And also, food nowadays are not rich and capable enough to supply all the body's required nutrients so go and get vitaminized.

PSP 3000 hacked mode

Back in November, I was thinking whether to get a PSP 3000 or a Nintendo DS. I ended up buying a DS since the PSP 3000 modified version has not been released yet. And besides, it doesn't have much of a difference from the 2000 which I used to be fond of.

Now, the PSP 3000 modified version is already released meaning you can start d'ling iso/cso games, just like what you do with the first two releases of the PSP with the new revised model with improved screen and built-in mic.

The PSP is really magical. It sold lots of units since its release. In the Philippines, I think 8 out of 10 well-off kids/teens/tweens own a PSP and they are addicted to it, it turns to be a comfort zone for them but around the world, the DS is the 'weenar.' Yup-yup! I am not into competition here, I support both consoles but I lurve the DS over the PSP. I'm just into the 'more interactive' and 'more worthwhile' games/apps of DS comp'd to the PSP but hey, go try the PSP 3000 and if reviews are positive then this would make good addition to my wish list.

It's been a while since I last noticed a female recording artist who's got her own style and identity. Lately, seems like everyone is just another Britney or Beyonce or Kelly Clarkson and despite of the amazing talent, they just have nothing else to offer to the public. I find Gwen Stefani unique and no one else could pull off such style except for her. Now here comes a rising star who, like Gwen is creating her own culture and art. Lady GaGa looks weird right, but what I liked about her is her sense of creativity and innovation. She's got her gaga fashion, gaga dancing, gaga singing and gaga presence.

Lady Gaga dresses outrageously from the bowtie hair to the tv shades, face paint, futuristic outfit down to the uber-high platform heels in all of her performances and public appearances but underneath this crazy fashion is a huge talent. I just love her powerful voice and the way she modulates it plus, her live performances are amazing - seems as if she is not getting tired while singing and dancing at the same time. She's just got the powerful stage presence that gets me hooked to the screen the whole time.

Gaga rose to fame after earning two Billboard#1 hits - Just Dance and Poker Face and from there, she going more in demand and why not? I find her really talented and artistic. I belive there are lots out there who think she's over the top, hilarious and crazy but hey, that's what her name suggests, okay. Some others say she's another 'Christina Aguilera' that which I do not believe. They might share the same hair color and height but Christina started off with a girl-next-door image and evolved to be wilder through time. Christina experimented but this girl didn't need to pretend and test the waters - she came in perfect timing with what the teens and tweens are raving for right now. Thanks to Akon for bringing her out into the music scene. She's got nothing else more to prove than her staying power which I believe won't be impossible since she worked her way hard to success - writing her own music at 13 and strted performing at 14 and now she's out to the world, bringing a new flavor and new music.

Untar to a specific location

There was an occasion when I used a generic script to untar an archive for a lot of servers, 16 in total. Since I cannot issue a cd, I proceeded to untarring and the result was a whole lot of right files in the wrong directory.

This tar option is important for one to be able to do the untarring at the correct location. You need not do a cd, just issue:

tar -C

That's it! Just a -C away and you're untarring to the correct directory.

My mobile watch

I saw this thing called watch phone otherwise called 'mobile watch' from a friend. I Immediately got interested in it so I started interviewing her and learned that they bought it at Singapore. There's no way I am going to Singapore just to purchase a phone, right. But I am a smart ass so I search the net and was able to find less than a handful of sellers within the country.

I contacted one named Grace, I think she is a Filipina-Chinese and I never thought a second but immediately trusted her. So I interviewed her and we did some negotiations last Thursday. Friday, we agreed to meet and my boyfriend was supposed to accompany me to the Mall of Asia. When I told him I was picking up my mobile watch, he was so envious that he immediately counted the amount he has just to be able to buy a phone as well.

We were so late for the meet up, and I was super surprised that dogs are allowed inside the Mall of Asia. As in they can walk inside the air-conditioned and tiled mall. (small dogs only according to the guards). My Shawn was so happy strolling inside the mall for the first time and he was such a good boy! He did not pee nor poop out, Whew! What a pet-friendly mall. Kudos to SM!

The black one is my boyfriend's and the white is mine. There are many ways to make a call. You can use the bluetooth device, the earphones with mic, and the loudspeaker method. The loudspeaker method is awesome, I'[m like a power ranger talking to a co-power ranger hehe.

But this small gadget is big in features including a music player, audio and video camera, wap, bluetooth technology, mp3, FM radio, 1 GB in memory, games, organizer and more topped with its user-friendly touch panel interface.

Now, I can go out without bringing any bag. Just me, my phone, and some pocket money and that's it! So much less of a hassle and aside from that, I'm looking very sporty with this techie toy.

Anytime soon, representatives of the Optical Media Board and Philippine Software Authority, as well as the Intellectual Property Office will be visiting the company to audit one of our machines. They will be searching for pirated software including OS, other applications, even unlicensed movies and music and if they find one, the company will be charged P1M for violating the anti-piracy law.

My manager said it's gonna happen anytime soon. They'll just pick one machine then audit it. It won't matter if the machine is a personal or company owned, as long as it is inside the office's vicinity, they'll consider it owned by the company.

I'm not scared of unlicensed software and all but since they are including music, then that would make quite a big deal. I have lots of music saved here, as well as PSP and DS games. I can imagine it would be a heck of a hassle to move these files to one of my personal laptops. Music is important to my work; it keeps me concentrated and awake all the day and also, helps me steer away from nonsense conversations within the room. I don't know if some of my friends experienced the same in their company. I wish I could get to talk to them so I know how to hide my unlicensed music and games :)

Linux FTP-only account

This discusses the procedure on creating an ftp-only user. This is the simplest way I devised which took me a handful of research and trial and error since I did it on the machine itself and from a test server. Anyway, this is short and effectual.

step 1: create the group if not existing

groupadd groupname

step 2: create the user with its shell and group

useradd -G user -s /sbin/nologin groupname

/sbin/nologin shell was used to disable ssh access

step 3: assign the group's home directory

usermod -d /directory user

step 4: assign a password

passwd user

step 5: grant ownership to the user's directory

chown -R user:group /directory

step 6: secure the directory with your preferred access privileges

chmod -R 766 /directory

Test via ftp from a foreign machine
Test SSH also and it will give you nothing.

Configure your monitor to turn off after 20 minutes (or less) of inactivity, and your hard drive to turn off after 30 minutes of inactivity.

They say 'Your attitude towards animals reflect your attitude towards people.' This is one thing I really want my mother to understand because she does not have the passion for pets. It's just sad that there are lots of pets without homes. I feel for those pets that loiter in the streets, homeless, hungry, and uncomfortable. I can never imagine losing my beloved Shawn. One day when we were eating out, I saw him a few feet away from me and he was about to loiter! While we were busy eating, he bit his leash to breakage and tried to roam around. I was so tensed and did not mind the crowd just to get him back to me. Now, I consider microchipping him so I can still keep track of him even he's away.

A week ago, I went through my nth evaluation. I can say that was pretty much a 'OK.' I know by myself that I have performed really better than before but things change. With the haunting global recession right now, I really need to step up and raise the bar in order to prove myself worthy of staying in the company.

My superior advised me to take more reviews and study during my free time but what the heck does 'free time' mean? I can't even take a decent coffee break because as soon as I get out of the door to buy a cup, someone will just block my way and surprise me with a priority task. But what must I do?

I really wanted to take more study but with the way things behave, it seems impossible. Especially right now where our junior sysad resigned, all in the group need to perform more to accommodate the tasks he used to do.

It's getting exhausting and I can no more participate in fora, check my email and all but well, I need to prove my worth in the company. Whew!

There's a little task ordered for me but I have to let it pass because of the zombie processes running in one of our client's boxes. It might not hurt but this certain server have constantly been consuming high loads. I never really paid attention into peeking because of other priority tasks but now it's irritating yet necessary in order to finally lay the box to normal loads.

I just realized there are lots of zombie processes. I know kill is the way to eliminate monsters but these are zombies - they're already dead so why kill? And yeah, kill or kill -9 don't work anyway. The zombies are still there.

To find out the current defunct processes, issue the command: ps aux | awk '{ print $8 " " $2 }' | grep -w Z which may give you something like:

Lost 7lbs

Last night, I measured my weight and to my surprise, I lost 7lbs in 7 days! Wow! It feels great that somehow, my diet and exercise are paying off. Aside from that, I lost .5 inch off of my waist.

I have a body type that gains and loses weight easily. Sure, it was somehow easy for me to lose weight but If I don't watch my diet, I'll never notice gaining extra pounds back. Since last week, I quit on frapuccino, softdrinks, dinner, heavy lunch, and excessive snacking. I started to eat fruits and some bread in the morning and then at lunch, no more rice. I chew my food really well now and I cut on junk foods, hot dogs, and other preserved goods. I eat fruits for snacks instead. Juices replaced my craving for iced coffee and softdrinks. If I'm feeling a little hungry, I smoke, thanks to nicotine for making me feel 'full' (i know it's bad, right).

Aside from the weight loss, I also noticed a difference in my skin. Fruits are really good for the body. My skin which looked tight before is now looking supple and healthy. I like oranges and mangoes specifically. Lucky me that my mother works for a fruit exporting industry so I have a large selection of fruits for my daily breakfast and snack. I'm continuing to sweat out every night and I never felt better. Good luck to myself and to the rest out there trying to get sexier this summer.

Global crisis and recession

The thought of being laid off from work is never new to me anymore. Since the dawn of global crisis leading multi-national companies to kick off people, I have prepared myself. I mean yes, I know the same may happen to our company which is by the way young and struggling to survive. I just entertained the thought but never got extra serious about my future plans.

I've planned to put up a business like a small food chain or an online boutique but my plans always end up in the head. They never materialize. I'm a super busy person who just lets each day pass as if there's no crisis on the way. Everytime I start to dig deeper into my ventures, issues start to rumble down and in the end, my plans get delayed. Of course no matter how small a business is, it will require a lot of time and money still and that's where my trouble arrives. It always boils down to my lack of time cause I'd usually want to relax and hang out after work instead of starting to conceptualize a business.

Right now, I'm not too focused in establishing a business. I'm thinking like if I lose my job, I'd have all the time in the world to focus on the business so right now, I will work and save as much as I can to prepare myself.

Speaking of recession, 4 people were laid off this April. I don't know what's the real deal but at least I'm super prepared. It's the first time in the company so I believed that it was a reality and can strike me anytime soon. Well, if ever I lose my job, I'll go back to studying. It's not studying a four-year course okay. I'll go study culinary arts in the same school where my boyfriend will be attending. I'm not guarding him but I just thought that venturing into a business will require me to have the skills and there's where I must start. It's a nice idea though far from my current profession. Well anyway, cooking is still necessary in any lady's life. I used to have the passion and now I am reviving it.

As far as venturing into a business, well, I still have no ideas which to pursue hehe. It's really hard to think but if someone invites me to become a partner, I would gladly accept. I'm not using my head again but well, money lost will come back, in a matter of time.

Quest to fitness

As a child, I've always been skinny. People used to call me 'Olive Oyle' because of my skinny frame. When I reached my mid-teens, I started gaining weight cause my mom quit work and had all the time to cook for the family's meal plus all the goodies so I really got swamped with sumptuous food. It was when I was 16 when I realized it's getting uncomfortable so I decided losing weight so I turned skinny until 19 years of age.

I became so skinny that I looked anorexic and sickly. I used to eat noodles and do jump ropes to lose weight which had been effective but the stress brought by college made me even thinner and didn't looked good so I started eating more to gain some weight. Right now, I earned 10 lbs from last year. It's not as bad as it seemed but I hate the extra inches around my waist.

I need to get sexier cause it's summer plus, there are two weddings I need to attend soon and there's nothing else to make a gown look more glam than a slimmer frame. It's just difficult to start a weight-loss habit but I'm kinda devising right now.

We're on brown rice. I don't eat brown rice so I skip it instead, making me eat the dish alone. I was also planning to do badminton which is no success since I haven't looked for a buddy. I don't wanna go do the badminton with my officemates cause the avid goers aren't that close to me ;-p
But still, I'm persistent in doing it, I just have to find the time, my boyfriend is willing enough to come with me.

I am also starting to do jump jacks, stretchings, treadmill, timeworks, and sit ups this time. Hopefully, I'll get the body I desire in the next couple of days. If not, it's time to get some weight-loss pills.

I was supposed to get a new pup yesterday but instead, I left with a new LCD TV. Whatever it be, it's supposed to be a gift for my boyfriend's birthday. We've already arranged our thoughts to buy a new pup, female pomeranian but it's just so hard to find my ideal characteristic. I was looking for a breeder size, orange, 7 months and up age, and good temperment but nothing seemed to suit my preference. Either the pup is small, different color, too young, or yappy so I'm just going to wait until I finally see the one I like.

So there, I ended up buying a television. His previous tv was already broken, it's not functioning, probably because it's too old or the mice had been nibbling the cords behind. Plus he's got a new Xbox 360 so a really nice TV set would rev up his room. Add to that the 5.1 home theater system that I won from our Christmas Party last year by which I find no purpose on my end thus I just gave it to him makes me want to stay in his place the longest hours possible.

It feels really good getting a time off from work. I didn't come to work yesterday to assist him in arranging his room and then we went to the pet shops to look for a potential pet and get some doggie stuff then to the mall fo a movie - Fast & Furious which I'd give 6/10. You can go see it to get entertained.

I hope to really get the female pom sometime soon. Of course, a new pup means I needed more resources so I hope to get more opps from the marketplaces ;)

During the first half of the show, there were not that much viewers but when it was time for Undertaker and HBK's match, viewers started to come in and share their thoughts.

Miss Wrestlemania - Santina Marella. Who is she? According to her, she was the 'twin sister' of Santino Marella from Italy. Heck.. according to Jerry Lawler, 'Who is that ugly diva?!' Well, I think men have been feasting cause of the uber hot ladies including current Divas and former ones like Gail Kim, Victoria, Torrie Wilson, Sunni, and Mei Young :p
Matt Hardy won over his brother Jeff. The final seconds of their extreme rules match were quite brutal. It involved Jeff crashing 20 feet from the air and having finished with his head enclosed in a steel chair sealed with his brother's Twist of Fate. I felt for Jeff's dog having died through his burnt house. A dog lover here..
Rey Mysterio is the new Intercontinental Champion. JBL usually says a lot before any of his matches. That night, he promised something 'historic' and yeah- 'twas fulfilled when Rey won the belt after 21 seconds! It was really quick and historic. Rey is great and will always be. Imagine their size difference and you'd never think of Rey ever winning. After that, JBL was stunned and his loud mouth was shut and just uttered 'I quit!' Rumor has it that JBL will move to TNA.
Chris Jericho - he won over the legends but got humiliated by 'The Wrestler' Mickey Rourke who by the way, as critics say, is an underestimated actor. I think he's a great actor and though he didn't get the chance to win a best actor award, I 'm glad I'll be seeing him in his future movies including Sin City 2 and Iron Man 2. Anyways, Y2J sucks lately. He used to have a large fan base but now, he became a disrespectful villain.
John Cena won new World Heavyweight Title. I care less about the title, I care more about John Cena's body. He's oozing.. yum yum
Triple H retains WWE Championship. It was a boring match but the promo vid was really dramatic.

I wished that the match between Undertaker and HBK was set for the main event. It was the best match of the night. I was wishing for HBK to win cause he's my favorite! It's not that I don't like Undertaker, Taker is great too but I just love HBK's style and showmanship plus the confidence he's got. It didn't come easy for Taker to defend his streak, he actually used all his finishing moves but Michaels struggled to kickout before the count of three and tuned up the Sweet Chin Music. He was tired, super tired but he's the star that still looks good though tired. Wouldn't anyone get that exhausted wrestling for more than 30mins? Even if the match took than lengthy, I remained glued in the monitor and my adrenaline was rushing throughout the match which was sealed with Michaels succumbing to the 2nd Tombstone. Congratulations to Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania, and more congratz to Michaels' beat-up performance as Mr. Wrestlemania. They should repeat this the next year, it was said that The Dead Man will retire next year after the Mania and I really expect as match as tense as this one.

You may be familiar with the Conficker Worm which was said to have spread over the net April 1, 2009 which is of course, remembered to be the April Fool's Day. It is dangerous, of course, but tech masters out there promised that it was something easy to cure and prevent from spreading.

I've been aware of it the day before but to my carelessness, I did not really took advantage of the free prevention mechanism. I had just been careful in using the internet even more, I didn't really try to access my mail, PayPal, and any other important site.

The worm is said to steal important information such as bank account pins, credit card numbers, and the like. It's scary right, especially for someone like me who uses internet-based transactions. Prior to that, there were already predecessors sharing the same name but the damages were different.

This one attacks Microsoft-based systems only. So you must be very careful and if you cannot help but click on pop-ups and access unreliable sites that may be carrying the worm, then download the patch available at Microsoft.com, or, use a different operating system ;-)

April 5 wil be Wrestlemania 25th. I'm excited. I haven't been watching WWE for a while now, there's no more JackTV from my cable subscription but I get to watch online. Videos were spread all over youtube. It's easy and I can filter to just watch the matches I prefer.

Of all the matches, I'm waiting for the match between HBK and Undertaker. Undertaker is great but Shawn, he's amazing. He's got a huge fan base and the 'spunk' --> the appeal, the overall performance is awesome. I like him really. Of course I want HBK to win, Undertaker's been there for long, I think it's time for him to rest. He's old, he better succumb from his 16-0 record and HBK will break it this year! yoohooo! It's been too long since wrote an entry here. Moving from the night shift to the day shift required a morsel of effort from me but the effect is different. It's not that I'm feeling drowsy all day long but the work load got bulkier.

Yep, I have no more time to blog, time to check my multiply account, no more activity in doggie fora, less cigarette breaks but it's okay.. I missed this kind of activity. Working during the day is so much different yet very rewarding when it comes to education. The pressure is nothing compared to the rush accompanying it.

Since I shifted to the day duty, I noticed also that I've been eating more. Like before leaving the house, I'll grab some fruits and sandwiches. When I get to the office, someone will invite for breakfast by which I will gladly oblige since it feels nice to eat and go bond with an officemate. Then there's lunch. Then at dismissal, my my boyfriend will pick me up from work and what else could we do but to eat again. Then at home, dinner is served and I feel like it's nice to eat while watching TV. I don't where I got the confidence to wear swimsuits despite of the added weight. Oh no, I must get back to the night shift. But I like the day shift. It's summer and it's easier to avail of a leave during the day compared to the night. But yeah, easier but still a little complicated since I have to advise way earlier before the actual date. Amd it gets more difficult when someone is leaving the same day so I better file first than anyone else could. But yes, I like the day shift really.

I was actually supposed to write about Chris Brown and Rihanna but I got a little news here - Mandy Moore got recently married to rocker Ryan Adams since last year and the simple ceremony was held at Georgia.

Mandy wasn't like any other girl who dreamt of a big and glamorous wedding. She adds: "I kind of feel like, because I've been able to get married in a few films, I kind of got the whole giant wedding fuss out of my system." You're right girl. Why spend so much and prepare so much when you're gonna get divorced anyway?!

Seriously, I'm joking. But I just wonder why girls normally dream of getting an extravagant wedding. I don't even see myself getting married. It's so corny.. but congratulations to Mandy Moore. New Hip Hop Artist

I've preferred listening to hip hop and RnB over all music genres. It just makes me feel good and the beat is so not boring, so not emotional unlike other genres. The melody makes me feel alive and like dancing and it's a great relief from day to day stress. I have this habit of searching for new songs that I can add to my playlist. I've recently discovered Everything to Gain Entertainment's artist Nyce Billy, a talented new artist who's making waves in New York bars.

Nyce is just like any other youth. He enjoyed basketball, football, dancing, he went schooling and he has passion for music - as in big passion for music. He sings and writes music. Nyce is young and new but he's got the potential to make it big in the music industry. He's got the talent and determination to build a career and after a number of attempts, he joined ETG Entertainment TV's Faces In The Crown and won first place and got signed.

As in what am I to write about? I know this blog is getting more and more boring. I never really made some kind of a fuss except when I posted about Angel Locsin and Marian Rivera. Yup, I generated some masses of comments from their respective fans but now, I can no longer do that. There's so much going on in my day to day and if I'd blog, I'm supposed to write and not simply post. I mean, it's what's required from the marketplace - real transcripts and less (or should I say zero %) photos, surveys, and whatever.

Yes, it's really getting packed - I mean my schedule. Since I got my baby Shawn, I wake up a day to realize how cute he is and I just want to cuddle, play, go walkies, or groom him. I go to work for like 9 hours in a day, go home to sleep for a max of 6 hours, spend time with my pet, some more time with my boyfriend, and that's it. No more yoga, no more watching tv, no more blogging hehe.

But there are times when I just turn to this online diary and think I'm getting drained, I want some me-time. I want to relax but when? Probably when I get out of this night shift. But well, I like the night shift since there's less distractions and I can focus despite of the urge to sleep. It's getting hard for me to fight it especially whenver I hear the loud snoring by an officemate hehe.. but his snoring is more of a comedic relief than a tempter.

Enough of this, I have to get back to the effin postfix mail realy thingie which by the way, is a failure hehe. Gotta get back to work.

I've been receiving quite a lot of extra income since November. November to December gave me my 13th and 14th month pay. January, I received my unused leaves payout. I'm quite satisfied with thos e but did not expect I'll have an extra this month.

Anyway, I checked my balance this evening and realized I have additional income. The issue is, I don't really know where it exactly came from. I've been thinking like what if I'd not receive my salary for the second half of the month but it's impossible, it never happened ever.

Finally, I got one

Before getting this nice netbook, I was asking myself what am I going to do with three laptops?

One laptop is a Neo Empriva which my parents bought me back in college to support my studies and carry a laptop wherever I go, basically to make the most out of my time alone for studying. When I started working, the company provided a laptop - HP 6910p which is somehow a sort of privilege since we're allowed to bring it home, anywhere.. then purchasing another unit is kinda crazy but I wanted a very portable computer like this. I can literally carry it wherever cuz it's small and light unlike the two measuring at 14in wxga and quite heavy weighing at 2.5kg

The best thing about this netbook is its keyboard. It's amazingly smooth and amazingly comfortable typing for hours so I can maybe, blog more and more. More for earning, and more for my beloved pet, in another blog site :)

I mean, I'm back to the graveyard shift. It's been two months since I rested from the night shift but the first month was not exactly day shift as I go on night shifts for Saturdays and Sundays so that's just three day shifts and two night shifts.

After a year of working for a company with a shifting schedule, I still do not know my comfort schedule. Shifts come in 6am-3pm, 2pm-11pm, and 10pm-7am. Before, I really really really urged for the night schedule for reasons like I get to be with my favorite people during the day and there's less work load at night compared to the day plus there's a little night differential bonus. But during my two-month work for the day shifts, I kinda thought that my body needs to stay at the day shift for lets say 4 months maybe? Prior to the day shift, I was 4 months at the graveyard and the day shift schedule allowed my body to rest well. There's just some differences between sleeping at night and at day that which I can't pin point by now but soon will. Oh well, give me any sched and I'll stick to it but for now let me roll out some of the personal advantages of working at night.

I feel like the day is really long. I wake up early, around 4pm to think that my work is still at 10pm and what do I do? I get out of the house immediately and go wherever I want to. I meet my boyfriend, bond with my pet, go shopping, drink with my friends, play any console, pamper myself, just whatever and don't feel tired upon coming to work. At work, since there's less work load, I get the chance to review, to blog, play music, and take some short breaks which is really important to rest my eyes and hands. I seldom take a nap, just whenever I feel really tired cuz I fear missing out on my responsibility at work.

I miss home though. It's good to stay at home but there's just nothing to do and there's no one home which makes life at home really boring. I also miss watching my favorite primetime TV shows. Anyway, this is a really senseless entry. I just needed to write to meet the marketplace's terms and conditions hehe

Nintendo DS introduced me to a wonderful game - Cooking Mama. I never really wanted it because I've been preoccupied with the Diner Dash series and Super Mario 64 (which by the way kept me up for a couple of nights) but I just kept it to fill up my edge card. I saw my officemate play it and he seems enjoying so I got curious with the game.

This cute game obviously is about cooking. The mama is the one providing ingredients and instructions and at the same time judges each part of the cooking. You are given a handful of dishes to make and each meal you complete gives you additional dishes that you consequently have to complete also. The game is very easy to learn. Each part of the dish has a corresponding instruction from mama, whether be slice, dice, knead, mix, grate, boil, saute, grill, freeze, bake, decorate, and more. Name any procedure in cooking and Cooking Mama has it. This game makes use of the stylus and microphone very much and is surely worth the patience.

The game is not exactly like a cookbook but if you try figure, you'll see that you are learning how to cook those dishes in real life. Knowing the ingredients and steps alone are enough to get you out of the game and into cooking the dish instead.

Keeping a dog is like being a mommy. I bought so many things for Shawn. The day I bought him, I also got a crate, a bed, food bins, comb, toothbrush, shampoo, powder, harness, and lots of food. The day after, I got a dog carrier, toothpaste, and some clothes. A few days later, I took him for a walk and got him a really expensive hoodie, some toys, and perfume. I can spend some amount for myself but not this much in a week :) and I just want to give him the best of everything so I shop for him regularly, take care of his things, take lots of research on Pomeranian care, searched for the best food and everything and now he's really well. He knows his name, he knows to stay, behave, and somehow, potty. He's very active, likes to run around so much but comes back when he's like tiring away. He's very sweet and cuddly too! I never thought of this kind of happiness until I got Shawn. Whenever I hear people saying he's cute, I'm like a mother very proud of a baby :) By the way, I named him Shawn after one of my favorite wrestlers Shawn Michaels.

This morning, my boyfriend picked me up from work to watch "The Dream Match" - de la Hoya vs Pacquiao which was considered to be the most talked about fight of the year. We never really planned this but it's nice to experience watching at the cinemas than at home with the "live" telecast and all the amazingly long commercial breaks and since it's our monthsary, we decided to spend some pesos anyway.

So there, it was my first time to go to Glorietta as early as past 7AM and there's nowhere to get food. We just rushed to the cinemas and bought hotdogs, popcorn, chips, and lots of drinks. It took so long to see the main event. We finished all the goodies, took some cigarette breaks, had our ears pierced, bought some stuff but still the main event was not playing yet and my PSP already ran out of battery. It's just nice that the staff of Glorietta cinemas allowed people to come in and go out from time to time, even for a number of times :)

At last it was the main event and everyone inside the cinema were just screaming and shouting and chanting and cheering. My expectation was that Oscar will win cause of his size, experience, and appeal (still I cheered and bet for pacman) but watching the first round makes me and maybe everyone around me realize that Manny can overtake and he did send off Oscar de la Hoya beaten throughout the match that ended just before the ninth round.

It's just so amazing that an underdog like him could lead one of the best boxers in the world to throw off the towel. That was so great of him and he's very lucky to have such a determined trainer and team to physically prepare him plus all the Filipinos to inspire him. The match was not as I expected it to be, I thought it's gonna be blow by blow, I saw it like both men will exchange a war of fists but Manny dominated and conquered the huge legendary Golden Boy. Oscar on the other hand accepted defeat but I wish he could've gone back to the ring and get knocked out instead just to make the match more exciting for everyone. Well, he might have avoided being knocked down and embarrassed but what he did - quitting was more embarrassing than losing from a strong knock out that may lead him lying flat on the mattress.

When will be the next one? I will watch Pacquiao in the cinemas again and by now I know not to be too early or else get bored inside the theater :)

My exchange gift "baby" requests for something entertaining or relaxing. I'm so lucky that his request is pretty easy to find and buy just about anywhere. The entertainment thing is quite more difficult to find since I cannot detect what could make the person entertained. Would it be a cinema pass, a carnival pass, a movie, music, it's kinda hard to think about so I opted to get something taht will relax the person, just according to his wish list.

Stupid me

Yesterday, I made the most stupid mistake ever and that is removing the glibc rpm from a RHEL4 client server. Why did I come to such situation? I was installing HP Openview Network Node Manager for this server and I have been doing it for days. Not that I am doing it all throughout my shift, I just do it whenever I have the time because I wasn't successful with my installation earlier.

Months ago, I have installed the same software for three servers and it was a success although it took time and some trial and error. This server was reinstalled recently (around June this year) and the client noticed just two weeks ago that the HPoV agent was not installed so I preceded in deploying it.

Since I have been doing it for a while with really no solution cause the components won't start despite of constant stopping and starting, I relied on the ever-powerful googling for more info. I received many inputs, of course but never been able to go to the bottom line of the error.

I turned into reinstalling RPM packages that the software itself need. One of those is the glibc-2.3.4-2.25. When I grep'd, two values returned: one x86_64 and another i686. I thought that maybe, there is a conflict between the i686 and the x86_64. I then tried to remove the i686 package which by the way, didn't work. I then added the arguments "all matches" and "nodeps" and at last, the glibc disappeared. As I was into dl'ing the source package from RHN to the server, I was fascinated to see that commands aren't being interpreted anymore. Whether wget, ls, ll, rpm, history, nothing worked except for the cd command. Hmm.. this is really bad.. I was into cold sweats and shaking while I was calling my supervisor. There it is.. the server can no longer read commands.

It's just really difficult to admit a serious yet stupid mistake but there's really nothing to do if I myself can not solve the severe problem. I thought of resigning :( but it's even more difficult. IT people fuck up many times and this is where we learn. I made the right decision of admitting the mistake and they appreciated it because it helped them diagnose the issue. It took approximately 34 hours to fix (I'm thinking 4 hrs initial troubleshoot, 18 hrs waiting for the US counterpart to coordinate and travel to the client site, 11 hrs for the US counterpart trying to mount the ISO which took time cause the machine just won't see it, and an hour to reboot the machine and bring it back to normal) and that was quite quick considering we are given 73 hours to fix it. Though fixed, I made a mistake so I treated my teammates for some pizza (peace offering? =P).

What now is glibc? It is a library running under the kernel. According to Linux About:

"The glibc package contains standard libraries which are used by multiple programs on the system. In order to save disk space and memory, as well as to make upgrading easier, common system code is kept in one place and shared between programs. This particular package contains the most important sets of shared libraries: the standard C library and the standard math library. Without these two libraries, a Linux system will not function. The glibc package also contains national language (locale) support."

In short, if removed, it damages the kernel, damages the shell of a machine. So never ever try removing it guys. Don't get as stupid as I am unless you are confident of being able to revive a remote server deployed with a complex tool.

The sasser virus recurs

As I logged in to my laptop using my fingerprint as the credentials, a dialog box appeared and said that there is an error with the lsass.exe application. It also said that my computer will shutdown after 60 seconds and it is very annoying because it kept on appearing every after restart. I googled and found that it is not an infectios worm or malicious software but rather is a process in Windows that is responsible for enforcing the security policy on the system. Lots of cure may be found over the net and I tried each. The solution for me was like this: I disconnected form the LAN and logged as Administrator. Then after successful logon, I connected to the internet and updated my OS, HP software drivers, and my anti virus. I also performed a full computer scan and there were no threats displayed. I logged off and logged back on this time at the domain and everything seems well now. I suspect this has been caused by not updating the OS but I believe other users got this through a remote buffer overflow in computers running XP and Win2k. Lots of information and solutions may be found over the net though.

After getting rid of this infection for the first time, I encountered it once again. My computer is an HP6910P running in Windows XP. I found out that I got this virus when I installed VMWare which conflicts with the HP Credential Manager. The VMWare can be uninstalled and the Credential Manager can be deinstalled as well to get rid of the uncomfortable sasser. I opted to save the Credential Manager so I can still log in to my computer using my fingerprint credentials. Screw the VMWare, I'll be using another computer to use it :) It solves the problem. I hope I won't eperience this ever again.

Busy Blogging

I am kind of "busy" blogging lately. A few weeks ago, I have been complaining about lesser and lesser opportunities from my favorite blogging marketplaces but now, my mood is starting to change because opps are coming like an avalanche!

Well, I realized that there really are times when bloggers need to concentrate cause there are more opps during (1) summer and (2) holidays. That's right. June-August was such a generous period for me cause I was able to produce some amount by my blogging. Things went slow around September to Late November but now it's getting really busy.

Cooking Mama

In Cooking Mama, the player is tasked with cooking various meals using the Nintendo DS's touch screen. Following the instructions of the titular "Mama", the player uses the stylus to chop vegetables, slice meat, flip food in pans, and arrange the final items on the plate. Each of these tasks is performed by completing a mini-game which usually lasts less than 10 seconds. The gameplay structure consists of the player progressing through a series of short minigames. The game features a total of 76 different dishes.

Each minigame represents a different activity in the meal preparation, such as mixing, frying, or chopping the provided ingredients. The minigame mechanics themselves range from quickly drawing parallel lines in order to chop items, to a rhythm game where ingredients are added to a skillet or the heat is adjusted at precisely the right time. In many cases, players must look at the top screen of the DS for guidance on what to do next and then perform the task on the bottom screen. If the player makes a serious blunder or time expires without sufficient progress being made, that step in the cooking process is considered a failure. When this happens, an anime-styled graphic of an angry "Mama" with flames erupting from her eyes is displayed, along with the caption "Don't worry, Mama will fix it!".

Completing a dish can require playing one minigame, or as many as a dozen. The player's performance is rated when each dish is finished, based on the average result of each minigame. Depending on the final score, the game may award the player a bronze, silver or gold medal. The highest medal earned for each dish is recorded and displayed next to each item on the selection screen.

This is how Wikipedia describes the Nintendo game "Cooking Mama." If you love Diner Dash then you'd definitely love Cooking Mama. I saw my officemate play. Actually, I thought it was a really stupid game but it turns out really refreshing and educational. When I tried it for the first time, I enjoyed it very much and didn't sleep until I get the entire level finished :) It doesn't actually tell you the exact recipe but it teaches about the ingredients and basic procedures and if applied in real life may be very useful. Actually, this may be a great encouragement and inspiration for kids to start learning how to cook.

There is a portion that when sauteing, an instruction to "blow" pops up. I really didn't know how to that and I fail every time I saute because I don't know how to "blow." Google said that the player needs to literally blow at the console's microphone :) It's very funny and looks awkward but mind you, this is such and amazing game hehe

waddaff.. I got kinda bored while waiting for my mp3 download to complete so I tried to answer another personality test, something that I never tried before. I just googled and it was the first result out of millions so I tried it without knowing that the freakin' personality test was composed of 72 questions answerable by yes or no. If you think it's simple then you're wrong. That's why it's 'personality test' because it involves the entire self to accomplish it and if one is not sure about his or her own personality then this test will be really a 'test' than a trivia. Nintendo DS

This is not a part of my wish list. Actually, my wish list is drastically distorted hehehe. Out of the three items (netbook, psp, and phone), I wasn't able to buy any one of these yet. But my interest went another way and got myself a Sony Cybershot T77 (featured in another blog page) and now a Nintendo DS Lite.

What do I need a DS Lite for? Well I initially wanted the PSP 3000 but I received negative reviews about it and besides, I already bought a PSP 2000 which is good so I bought a DS instead.

I'm liking it, especially the touch screen thingie. With the 4GB memory, more or less 40 games can be saved and copy time is really quick compared to PSP's tansfer rate. Most of my games are for kids - Diner Dash (my favorite), Luxor, Super Mario, Cokking Mama, Fish Tycoon, and I also have mind games and puzzle games like Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader, Deal Or No Deal, Puzzle Quest, and Mind Quiz. I also have RPGs and now am beginning to realize that some of the games I chose were not copied hahahaha. How was that possible?.. Well I was in a hurry so I didn't double-check if all the games were copied but it's okay, I can do it myself anyway.

Let me try this Nintendo DS first before getting to the conclusion if this is better than the PSP.

Aside from blog marketing, I have tried online surveys and online gaming but these weren't able to give me as much as what I usually earn by blogging. There's really no pressure for me to earn since I don't have something important to spend for but the constant opportunities are not supposed to slip so I make efforts to earn in any way other than my monthly salary. Filling up surveys is difficult because most exams are meant only for US or Canadian residents, most require that examinees work for this and that kind of industry and other more complicated requirements. On the other hand, online gaming can make one earn as much as 300USD in a day but it's more of gambling than gaming really. They give free passes or tokens for the first trial and when you think you're good enough to earn more, well you actually are not. It's really complicated so I skipped those and opted to find another method.

So there, I discovered about Helium (www.helium.com). It's kinda like blogging but the only difference is that you publish your articles to the helium website and not to a blog. Once you sign up, you get to choose some topics that you can write about and there are lots of topics to choose from so you can follow your interest. Like blogging, you must make a minimum number of words and characters, there are certain points of emphasis and blah blah blah.

I tried it and made my first article about family vacation locations which unfortunately didn't pass because it is the same article I wrote somewhere in my blog which is strictly prohibited. They do not accept duplicate articles even if you are the same author. The articles you submit must be solely intended for Helium which is justifiable somehow.

I will be on the lookout for more opportunities and will be back when I get my first approved article.

I replaced my Cybershot w200 with a newer and slimmer T77 out of the money I made from blogging. That's it! I mean the two reasons why I led to the decision of getting a new camera are: I want it slimmer and I wanted it touch-screen. The only catch is that battery life is shorter compared to the w200 but this problem can be solved easily by purchasing an extra battery pack :) That's no big deal considering the powerful features and sleek design of this camera.

The Effective Communications Program

Last Monday, November 10, I along with my teammates attended a seminar on The Effective Communications Program by trainer Vernon Tapalla. The seminar was for two days and basically focused on the following topics: success, confidence building, verbal communication, grammar enrichment, and support handling.

Well what did I learn? hmm... the success and confidence building part was great. The trainer taught us on some laws to enrich one's self esteem, assertiveness, and etc but the most important were laws on building success. It's kind of difficult for anyone to define success and how to get there and at the same time determine the way to success coupled with happiness. Hmm.. I will reflect on that someday but for now my life is good, not perfect but good and I'm enjoying. Well there's more for me to come :)

The training was really intended for the team to better support the customers' requests by correct grammar, improved writing skills, and above all that, learning how to 'appease' waiting customers. In my case, I have the grammar and vocabulary (I believe I do) but when there are occasions when lack of knowledge results to communication gap and therefore last resort is to provide redundant and irrelevant information. I had a training with customer service back when I was in the call center industry (which lasted for two weeks) and I've been trained about the American culture and how to satisfy their demands but didn't really apply much of what I trained for in my current company. It's just difficult to support a customer who knows more about the product than I do but now I know how to somehow lessen their 'irritation' and frustration because of this training.

The Starbucks 2009 planner

It's uber chaka as in ugly.. well what can I say except tha I am not a fan of this yearly planner as in I never got interested of this thing cuz of the following reasons: I don't want to write (as in hand-write), it's kinda bulky and useless compared to my digital Palm organizer (literal organizer and planner with the alarm and camera and music and notepad and dictionary and internet and bluetooth and touch screen console and all), and it's emo (I see it more of a diary than a planner hehe, I doubt if it will really help keep one organized). But I know some people appreciate this more I mean way more than I do.

So there, I go to Starbucks very often, as often as daily because of their good coffee and because it's just right below our office but I never got the chance ever to collect stickers for this planner freebie. In the past, I go give stickers for my friends but this time, no matter how I hate this planner, I'm thinking of collecting stickers. I have five stickers now, eleven more to go and once I claim the planner, I would give it as a gift to.. I don't really know who. Basta.. if it's a relative then I would give it for free but if a friend, I can sell it for the price of three Praline Mocha frappes which are by the way, really good :) I love it, it tastes like a combination of mocha and hazelnuts. My Year-end Wishlist

This December, I will be celebrating my 1st work anniversary. Yoohoo! I would be working for a year already and I'm so lucky that I can spend my thirteenth, fourteenth month pays, excess leave pays, bonus (maybe) and salary to reward myself for enduring a year in this stressful company (he he he). It will mark my official birthday in the corporate world and I'm glad I lasted a year in one company and I've learned a lot from all the challenges.

Well we know that the year end brings in quite a lot of money for everyone because of all those rewards and everything to spend for the holidays. I don't celebrate holidays but I see to it that I get something from my parents whenever the year end approaches. Two years ago, I got a laptop and last year I got a shopping spree. For my birthday this year, I rewarded myself with a huge shopping spree also and this year end, I want to reward myself with a notebook and I'm eying for the HP Vivienne Tam notebook Special Edition:

I'm into IT but with this gorgeous laptop, I wouldn't care much about the specs! I'm surrounded with powerful computers with all those high-tech add ons and stuff but given this notebook, I will sacrifice purpose for beauty. This'll be my 3rd notebook if ever and I'm not afraid to grab a less powerful machine if it's this gorgeous. Well ot looks simple right, but its super girly and its one of a kind. We can find lots of small laptops but not a flowery, oriental chassis like this laptops'. I want a notebook that looks good, that is small and light that I can carry for a day at a cafe or just about anywhere.

HP hasn't disclosed the specs of this laptop yet but gave a hint regarding its release - early 2009. I still have time to think on the strategy to save up for this gadget.

I also want to buy a phone. One thing I consider is the Sony Ericsson G700..

I have tried using this phone and I like it - it's slim and light, and is touchscreen which is basically what I am looking for. If not the G700, I may get any Palm manufactured smartphone but if my mom will sell her G700 to me then this would be good :)

What else.. hmm.. a puppy.. :( until now, I haven't bought a puppy yet.. I will someday! It's just that my mother is allergic to pups though I really, really want one Pomeranian cutie..

That would make up my wish list for now. I will be on search for more items to give to myself. Come summer, I will receive one of the grandest material gift ever :) Go figure.. will blog about it soon.

The music event of the year

Just came back from a week-long vacation and I feel tired. Yes, tired because I did not get as much rest as I would want to. When I am about to get to sleep at night, someone wakes me up and invites me for a casual drinking party which I just can't resist and thus I feel a little tired and restless and worst - fat. I gained some weight from all that eating and drinking so I'm looking for ways to get rid of these excess fat around my belly.

Anyway, I really don't wanna talk about my fatness. A week ago, my friend informed me regarding the confirmation of Chris Brown's Manila concert. I'd like to see Chris alone but Rihanna will be coming with him so it's a 2-in-1 concert and it rarely happens. Both of them are really big in this country and wow.. at their early age, they just have a huge fan base. I'm not really a fan of Rihanna, there are just certain songs from her that I like such as "We ride" and "Unfaithful" but Chris Brown is such a very, superb, as in amazingly talented artist. I'm super excited with his concert coming this November 16 at Taguig City and tickets can be purchased from ticketworld.

I wanna see Chris Brown perform run it, kiss kiss, with you, forever.. all of his hits! Wow! I'll gonna see it even if I get kicked from work for being absent hahahaha

Cause we only got one night.. double the pleasure.. double the fun.. and dance forever - ever -ever.....

Seeing things clearly

When I reached 14 years of age, I noticed that I don't see things as clearly as before. I cannot easily distinguish people from afar, texts and images look blurred from afar. Though I really do not want to wear eyeglasses I started doing so to be to read and copy notes from the writing board and see people clearly as much as before.

Picking my first ever eyeglasses was a little difficult, especially considering that I will do this for the first time. It is hard to spend hours mall from one optical shop to another just to locate which particular pair of glasses would look best for me. Until now, I regularly change and buy new pairs of eyeglasses because I want to get what's the latest, what would look great for my outfit or haircut and the like. But choosing eyeglasses becomes difficult still, considering the price and the risk of buying something that I would not be using soon.

At last, work is stable now. Less pressure since I'm not totally done with the server installations but there are less distractions this time around. Continue with the normal monitoring and immediate support, plus, I have time now to attend to my personal needs like blogging, surfing the net, reading showbiz news and eating! Well, a few days I go I blogged about not being able to eat due to heavy work load but now, I'm happily eating though alone :)

I'm just surprised now. I checked my salary and it increased! I don't remember cashing out my overtime services and I don't remember hearing word about getting an increase or any allowance but my salary increased of about 10%! Wow! That's a big thing for me, considering that I need extra money for my vacation days from now. More money to spend for gifts and food, I'm planning of giving gifts for some people and of course treating my family and friends.

Speaking of vacation, it's a really nice treat for everyone involved. We can relax, have more than 8 hours of sleep, get an exercise, dine out and anything else. It's healthy to get a vacation and just break away from the cares of daily life especially work and I'm looking forward to that. But sometime, technology makes me feel annoyed. I'm seeing a situation when someone from work would call me in the midst of my vacation and ask assistance on a certain thing and since there is wireless internet, there is a portable computer, there's a cellphone and there's a VPN connection, I have no excuse but to render my skills hehe. But it's really no big deal for me.. my officemates can call me anytime; I know that I still have an obligation for the company even I'm away for a while.

I hope everything will be stable and good while I'm away. :)
